Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Pixon12 - the world's first 12-megapixel camera phone with a full touchscreen. The M8910 features a 79mm (3.1-inch) AMOLED touchscreen. Camera functions include touch-based focus, allowing you to tap on the screen to select what you want to focus on. Samsung describes a fast-saving feature, which is designed to allow you to take the next picture quickly rather than waiting the full amount of time for the phone's brain to wrestle with each dozen-megapixel image.

It also includes a 28mm wide-angle lens and Xenon flash. As well as stills, the M8910 shoots 720x480-pixel video at 30 frames per second. Which all sounds great, but we'll wait until we've had a hands-on and seen some test shots before we get really excited -- after all, there's still the matter of that tiny little phone-sized image sensor.
The Pixon12 offers touchscreen controlled auto-focus tracking, where users can select a focus point with the touch of a finger, after which the AF function will automatically follow the object, while the Smart Auto feature changes the scene and mode based on its object, background and lighting. It is  quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone include HSUPA, Wi-Fi, and external memory up to 16 GB transflash micro SD card, GPS, an FM radio and 720 x 480 video capture at 30fps.

Samsung Pixon12 will be available from end of June in Europe - other regions in August.
